AND you hath he quickened,
who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the
course of this world according to the prince
of the power of the air,
the spirit that now worketh in the children
of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our conversation
in times past in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh
and of the mind; and were by nature the children
of wrath, even as others.
But God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us.
Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might
shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward
us through Christ Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves :
it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we
should walk in them.
THEN fourteen years after I went up again
to Jerusalem with Barnabas,
and took Titus with me also.
And I went up by revelation,
and communicated unto them that gospel
whick I preach among the Gentiles,
but privately to them which were of
reputation, lest by any means I should run,
or had run, in vain.
But neither Titus,
who was with me,
being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
And that because of false brethren
unawares brought in.
who came in privaily to spy out our liberty
which we have in Christ Jesus,
that they might bring us into bondage:
To whom we gave place by subjection,
no, not for an hour; that the truth of
the gospel might continue with you.
But of these who seemed to be somewhat,
(whatsoever they were, it maketh no
matter to me:
God accepteth no man's person:) for they
who seemed to be somewhat in sonference added
nothing to me:
But contrariwise, when they saw that
the gospel of the uncircumcision was
commited unto me, as the gospel
of the circumcision was unto Peter;
(For he that wrought effectually in Peter
to the apostleship of the circumcision,
the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
And when James , Ce'phas, and John.
who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace
that was given unto me,
they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of
fellowship; that we should go unto the
heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
Only they would that we should remember the poor;
the same which I also was forward to do.
But when Peter was come to Antioch,
I withstood him to the face,
because he was to be blamed.
For before that certain came from James,
he did eat with the Gentiles:
but when they were come,
he withdrew and separated himself,
fearing them which were of the circumcision.
And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him;
insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according
to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before
them all, If thou, being a Jew , livest after
the manner of Gentiles,
and not as do the Jews , why compellest
thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners
of the Gentiles,
Knowing that a man is not justified by the
works of the law, but by the faith
of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,
that we might be justified by the faith of Christ,
and not by the works of the law :
for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ,
we ourselves also are found sinners,
is therefore Christ the minister od sin?
God forbid.
For if I build again the things which
I destroyed, I make myself a transgresor.
For I through the law am dead to the law,
that I might live unto God.
I am crucified with Christ:
nevertheless I live; yet not I , but Christ liveth
in me; and the life which i now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me .
I do not frustrate the grace of God:
for if righteousness come by the law,
then Christ is dead in vain.
VERILY, verily , I say unto you,
He that entereth not by the door into the
sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way,
the same is a thief and a robber.
But he that entereth in by the door
is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth;
and the sheep hear his voice:
and he called his own sheep by name,
and leadeth them out.
And when he putteth forth his own sheep,
he goeth before them,
and the sheep follow him:
for they know his voice.
And a stranger will they not follow,
but will flee from him: for they know not
the voice of strangers.
This parable spake Jesus unto them:
but they understood not what things they
were which he spake unto them.
Then said Jesus unto them again,
Verily , verily , I say unto you,
I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but
the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by me if any man enterin,
he shall be saved, and shall go in and out,
and find pasture.
The thief cometh not,
but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
But he that is an hireling,
and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming,
and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth:
and the wolf catcheth them,
and scattereth the sheep.
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling,
and careth not for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd ,
and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father:
and I lay down my life for the sheep.
And other sheep I have,
which are not of this fold:
them also I must bring,
and they shall hear my voice;
and there shall be one fold,
and one shepherd.
Therefore doth my Father love me,
because I lay down my life,
that I might take it again.
No man taketh if from me,
but I lay it down of myself.
I have power to lay it down,
and i have power to take it again.
This commandment have I received of my Father.
